Simplifying Our Schedule

Having time to homeschool with our daughter and Deaf foster daughter at the local science museum.

Life gets crazy.  And when you spend 24/7 schooling and living together, homeschooling lives can become incredibly chaotic unless balance is maintained.  Minimalist approach is more than just decluttering the schoolroom, it’s also a mental state that involves uncluttering our lives, so that we have time to do what’s most important in education; to become life long learners with life long relationships.

I came across your blog because I am a technology teacher and tech integrationist in a K-8 private/parochial school. I am constantly barraged with emails, books, Twitter feeds about ideas, lessons for my curriculum classroom. I try to live with a more minimalist approach and wanted to see if I could apply the same minimalist approach to my classroom and the curriculum that I provide for my students. Their lives are filled with so much “noise” that perhaps success for students could be met with a more minimal approach. “Experts” are always trying to find new and better ways to engage students and increase learning…..maybe the answer lies right before us! I can’t wait to delve more deeply into your blog and find others who may be taking a more minimalistic approach to their teaching……thank you for doing this!
